Kiln Work
Klin Work
Signature Art Glass Uses a Thermo-formed technique which is the process by which glass is heated over Hand crafted molds to create custom shapes and textures used for any application. Kiln-forming is the general term which refers to fusing & slumping, which takes place at temperatures between 1100 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. One advantage of using textured glass in most applications is that fingerprints, smudges & scratches go unnoticed due to the irregularity of the top & bottom surfaces.
Texture
We offer a wide range of organic and mechanical textures & are one of the few companies that welcome the opportunity to work closely with our customers to create a new custom texture just for your specific application if requested. Many of our textures are designed & produced to mimic the earthly elements found in nature. Some give the illusion of flowing water & others are reproductions of manmade elements & materials. “Pebble”, “Brick”, “Linen“, ”Rock”, “Leaf”, “ Aqua Motion”, “ Diamond Plate” are just a few descriptions of the textures we offer. Our textured glass panels can be tempered & laminated to meet codes for safety applications.
Fused
Glass fusing is the process of using a kiln to melt multiple pieces of glass together at high temperatures to form one single piece of finished glass. With this process, assorted glass colors, shapes, paints & even metals can be combined to create one fused piece of art (or) furniture.
Slumped
Glass is place in (or) on a form then its slowly heated in a kiln to its softening point. The glass then sags into the mold & takes the new shape, creating bowls, lighting fixtures & various art objects. This process is the most common method of shaping glass.
